Why Not Me?!

Hi, my name is Ebony at the early age of 35, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, at a grade 2 which means the cancer grew outside the tumor. At the time when I received all this information from my doctor I really didn’t know how to accept any of this. I had surgery immediately , a double mastectomy and seven lymph nodes removed. I decided to have both breasts removed to lower the chances of the cancer returning .

I went through 6 intensive weeks of radiation, then I had eight days of boost radiation treatment. This took an extreme toll on my body, I lost weight and gained weight which us ladies dont likeThis was five days a week of treatments for a total of 8 weeks, and I even worked everyday.  

I was in recovery for almost 6 months, one is I was still trying to process all that was going on and the fact I actually had cancer, and then I fell into a depression during that time. Until one day I forced myself to research and start reaching out to people like me to get their POV. I did a little blogging myself and met some wonderful women along the way. When I decided to accept my new normal I began to feel a lot better about myself, I started saying WHY NOT ME. God knew that I was strong and that I would keep pushing once I took a chance on Life.

 I am a mother of two wonderful boys, and I love to travel the world. I began this journey just like most women that have been diagnosed but I decided to fight, it’s been six years since my diagnosis and I still have bad days, I make sure I enjoy the good ones. I hope my short message is a little motivation of hope because I can’t say this is easy, but I will say fight and make it your purpose to survive there is greatness ahead, keep pushing.
